Personalised Support for Feeding, Recovery & Connection
Expert care by Harriet Blannin-Ferguson
Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant / Child & Family Health Midwife
At The Breast Help, I offer holistic, evidence-based care for families navigating pregnancy, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, sleep, and postpartum recovery. Whether you’re preparing for birth, working through a tricky latch, navigating bottle refusal, or feeling uncertain about your supply — I’m here to support you with compassion, clarity, and expertise.
This is responsive, non-judgemental care that puts your goals first. No “one-size-fits-all” plans, no pressure—just skilled guidance and space to breathe.
Complex Feeding Journeys
I regularly support families navigating:
Premature or NICU infants
Re-lactation and induced lactation
Feeding after birth trauma
Babies with oral dysfunction or feeding regressions
I Also Regularly Support:
Nipple pain, trauma, and infections (including blebs or nipple thrush)
Shallow latch, poor positioning, or discomfort during feeds
Oversupply, mastitis, and recurrent blocked ducts
Exclusive pumping, combination feeding, and return-to-work plans
Breastfeeding while managing exhaustion or mental load
Introducing solids and navigating early feeding concerns
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
I am specially trained in Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), a gentle, non-invasive treatment that supports:
Nipple healing from cracks, abrasions or persistent pain
Inflammation relief for mastitis or blocked ducts
LLLT is available in-clinic and can be combined with other therapeutic approaches for faster, more comfortable recovery.
Booking Options
I offer in-clinic, home visit, and virtual consults to support families across the Central Coast, Greater Sydney and Australia-wide.
Let’s find the right time and space to support your feeding journey — whether you’re expecting, newborn feeding is hard, or you’re looking for answers after weeks (or months) of struggle.
My Areas of Special Interest
Over the years, I’ve developed advanced skills in the following areas of infant feeding and postpartum care.
These form the foundation of the support I offer across consults:
-
Oral Function + Tethered Oral Tissue
I offer full oral functional and physical assessments for babies with suspected tongue, lip or buccal (cheek) ties. These include a detailed evaluation of feeding, breathing, oral mobility, and muscle coordination.
I assess how oral structure and function may be affecting latch, milk transfer, fatigue, or unsettled behaviour.
-
Myo Munchee Practitioner Consults
As a certified Bebe Certified Practitioner, I provide assessments and support for using the Myo Munchee — an oral health tool designed for babies and toddlers. Munchee use can support lip seal, jaw strength, nasal breathing, and chewing development. I’ll assess your baby’s readiness and guide you through safe, age-appropriate use as part of a broader oral function plan.
-
Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy
I provide individualised myofunctional therapy plans to support feeding and oral development.
These gentle exercises help strengthen tongue function, improve oral tone, support nasal breathing, and encourage coordinated sucking and swallowing. Myofunctional therapy is particularly useful before or after tongue tie release or when oral function affects feeding efficiency.
-
Reflux, Colic + Unsettled Behaviour
Rather than treating symptoms in isolation, I take a root-cause approach to reflux, colic and unsettled behaviour. I consider possible contributors such as oral tension, cranial nerve patterns, body misalignment, food intolerances or birth trauma. When needed, I collaborate with trusted bodyworkers to provide integrated care.
-
Formula Feeding Support
Whether you are transitioning to formula, supplementing breastfeeding, or navigating bottle refusal, I offer clear, supportive guidance. I assist with bottle choice and technique, responsive feeding, paced feeding, and developing a mixed-feeding or formula-only plan that suits your family’s needs - always without judgment.
-
Low Milk Supply
I have undertaken further training in assessing and managing low milk supply. I explore all contributing factors, including hormonal, anatomical or structural influences.
Together we create a sustainable, flexible plan to support your supply and feeding goals - whether you’re exclusively breastfeeding, expressing or supplementing.
